Description

These vibrant green cookies combine the earthy depth of browned butter and premium culinary matcha with the creamy sweetness of white chocolate chips. A chilling period ensures a thick, bakery-style texture that perfectly balances sophisticated tea flavors with a classic chewy finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2-3 tsp Culinary Grade Matcha Powder
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 cup Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 1/2 cups White Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter over medium heat until it foams and turns golden brown, then transfer to a bowl to cool completely.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and sifted matcha powder until well combined.
  3. Mix the cooled brown butter with both sugars, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract for about one minute until light and creamy.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula, then stir in the white chocolate chips.
  5. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least one hour to prevent excessive spreading during baking.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake 3-tablespoon scoops of dough on parchment-lined sheets for 10-12 minutes.

Notes

To ensure the most vibrant green color, always sift your matcha powder to remove clumps before mixing it with the dry ingredients. If you prefer an even deeper flavor profile, let the dough rest in the refrigerator for a full 24 hours before baking to allow the tea and browned butter notes to fully mature.
