Description

Experience the nostalgic charm of these farmhouse-style treats, featuring a unique thin profile and a satisfyingly crackly texture. Infused with natural honey and high-quality chocolate, these cookies offer a deep, caramelized flavor and a golden crunch that sets them apart from standard soft varieties.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups (188g) All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 10 Tablespoons (142g) Unsalted Butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons (43g) Natural Honey
  • 1 Large Egg Yolk
  • 2 Tablespoons (30ml) Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 and 1/4 cups (225g) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (191°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large glass bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the melted and cooled butter with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, egg yolk, milk, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until a soft dough forms, then gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. For the thinnest, crispiest texture, proceed immediately; for a slightly thicker cookie, chill the dough for 1 to 2 hours.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls, placing them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes until the cookies are well-browned across the tops and edges.
  8. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 3 minutes to firm up before transferring them to a wire rack to cool and crisp completely.

Notes

To ensure the perfect snap, allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack, as the texture continues to harden after leaving the oven. For the most accurate results, use a kitchen scale to measure your flour, as even a small amount of extra flour can prevent the cookies from spreading into their signature thin shape.
