Description
Experience the nostalgic charm of these farmhouse-style treats, featuring a unique thin profile and a satisfyingly crackly texture. Infused with natural honey and high-quality chocolate, these cookies offer a deep, caramelized flavor and a golden crunch that sets them apart from standard soft varieties.
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups (188g) All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 10 Tablespoons (142g) Unsalted Butter, melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons (43g) Natural Honey
- 1 Large Egg Yolk
- 2 Tablespoons (30ml) Milk
- 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 and 1/4 cups (225g) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (191°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- In a large glass bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the melted and cooled butter with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, egg yolk, milk, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until a soft dough forms, then gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- For the thinnest, crispiest texture, proceed immediately; for a slightly thicker cookie, chill the dough for 1 to 2 hours.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls, placing them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 11 minutes until the cookies are well-browned across the tops and edges.
- Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 3 minutes to firm up before transferring them to a wire rack to cool and crisp completely.
Notes
To ensure the perfect snap, allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack, as the texture continues to harden after leaving the oven. For the most accurate results, use a kitchen scale to measure your flour, as even a small amount of extra flour can prevent the cookies from spreading into their signature thin shape.
